Summary
Overview
HyperFrames is HeyGen’s open-source framework for making video with an AI agent. You describe the video, the agent builds it as an editable web project (HTML, CSS and JavaScript), and HyperFrames renders it to MP4. Animation can use GSAP, CSS, Lottie or Three.js, and each frame is captured in headless Chrome and encoded with FFmpeg, so the same project always renders the same video.
Who it fits
It suits motion designers, creators and anyone who want an agent to produce titles, captions, product intros and other motion graphics they can keep editing. Local use runs through a coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI after running npx hyperframes skills update.
What the plans include
The framework, CLI and skills are free under Apache 2.0, and rendering on your own computer needs no account and has no per-render fees. The hosted MCP connector (beta) works in Claude, ChatGPT and Grok, renders MP4, WebM or MOV in the cloud, and needs a HeyGen account; HeyGen does not list a separate price for it, so plans and credits come from that account.
Limits and alternatives
Local setup needs Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg, and the hosted connector trades the project folder and editor for convenience. Remotion is the closest match if you prefer writing video in React. Palmier Pro is a Mac editor an agent operates over MCP, and Tesseract by Mirage is a free local engine where an agent edits a native video project with layers and keyframes. Framefields is an open-source WebGPU engine where a coding agent writes motion graphics, 3D and effects in TypeScript and checks frames before rendering.
Who it's for
A good fit if you are…
- Motion designers and creators who want an AI coding agent to build editable motion graphics, titles, captions and product intros
- People who want repeatable, scriptable video renders with no per-render fees
Another tool may suit you better if you are…
- Anyone who wants a traditional timeline editor for cutting footage
- People who want no setup at all and no HeyGen account (the no-install path is the hosted connector, which needs one)
Pricing
Framework, CLI and agent skills are free and open source (Apache 2.0); rendering on your own computer is free with no account. The hosted connector and cloud rendering use your HeyGen account's plan and credits. As of Oct 2026, verify.
- Local: free, Apache 2.0, no account and no per-render fees; you bring your own AI agent and its plan.
- Hosted MCP connector (beta): needs a HeyGen account; HeyGen says plans, limits and billing come from that account and can change.
- Optional HeyGen features such as HeyGen voices, avatars and cloud rendering bill through the HeyGen account.

Key features
- Describe a video and an AI agent writes it as an editable HTML, CSS and JavaScript project
- Agent skills for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other coding agents via npx hyperframes skills update
- Seekable animation with GSAP, CSS, Lottie, Three.js and more
- Deterministic render: each frame is captured in headless Chrome and encoded with FFmpeg, so the same input gives the same video
- Hosted MCP connector (beta) for Claude, ChatGPT and Grok that renders MP4, WebM or MOV in the cloud
Integrations: Local skills work with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other coding agents that support skills. The hosted connector works in Claude, ChatGPT and Grok with HeyGen sign-in.
Agent-ready? Yes. Install the agent skills with npx hyperframes skills update for a local coding agent, or add the hosted MCP connector (beta) in Claude, ChatGPT or Grok and sign in with HeyGen.

Pros and good to know
Drawn from the vendor's own documentation and public sources.
Pros
- Built for agents: the agent writes the whole video project and can revise it from plain-language feedback
- Free and open source under Apache 2.0, including commercial use, with no per-render fees for local rendering
- Output is an editable project folder, not a flattened file
- Deterministic frame-by-frame rendering avoids dropped moments on slow machines
- Hosted connector offers a no-install path in Claude, ChatGPT and Grok
Good to know
- Local use needs Node.js 22+, FFmpeg and a coding agent, so expect some terminal setup
- Best suited to motion graphics and designed video rather than cutting long footage
- The hosted connector is in beta, and its features, credits and plan requirements can change
- Hosted output does not give you the local project folder or browser editor
Alternatives
- Remotion: Make videos and motion graphics with React code, render them in bulk, and let coding agents help.
- Palmier Pro: A native Mac video editor built so AI agents like Claude or Codex can edit the timeline for you over MCP.
- Tesseract by Mirage: Mirage's free local creative engine that lets an AI agent edit video, build motion graphics and design graphics in an editable project.
- Framefields: An open-source WebGPU engine that lets a coding agent write, check and render video, motion graphics and image edits in TypeScript.
