How it works

The short version: information comes from official pages and public sources, every listing shows its sources and the date it was last checked, and money never changes what a listing says.

Where the information comes from

What a tool needs to be included

Keeping facts fresh

Each page shows a last verified date. If a page hasn't been re-verified in 90 days it gets a "may be outdated" banner. Prices across the site are marked as of Oct 2026, verify. Prices and plans change often, so please check the official page before you buy.

How picks are chosen

There are two kinds of pick. A use-case pick is on Our picks: each use case has one pick, a runner-up and a budget pick. A category pick is the Our pick label you see on the home page while one category is selected. A category pick is always one of the use-case picks that fits the category best (or, for a few categories, a pick with its own one-line reason). Both are chosen by fit for the job, using only the facts on the listings and these criteria: free plan, ease for beginners, price at the entry tier, export and output limits, integrations and agent access. Every tool is described by what it is best at. There are no scores.

Where a pick suits a particular audience, the label says so, for example Our pick for pros. A category pick appears, with a one-line reason, only while you have that category selected on the home page, and never under "All tools" or in search results. It sits first in the grid with a thin outline. Other tools in the category are not ranked or scored.

No pick is for sale. Commissions, sponsorships and free product access never change a pick, a runner-up or their order.

Corrections

If something is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it and note the date. Vendors can ask for corrections of facts; they can't pay for a change of wording.
