Summary
Overview
Premiere Pro is Adobe’s professional video editor, and it has added AI helpers that go beyond effects. The AI Assistant, currently in public beta, can organize bins, rename clips, generate transcripts, detect slates, add markers and build a stringout or rough assembly. Adobe says the actions remain editable and undoable.
Who it fits
Premiere fits editors and teams already on Creative Cloud who want AI to handle the tedious first steps while they keep a full timeline. Generative Extend helps when a shot is a little too short, by adding frames or ambient sound at the start or end of a clip.
What the plans include
Premiere is sold by subscription alone or in Creative Cloud bundles, and prices vary by region, so check Adobe’s page. Generative features may draw on generative credits depending on the plan.
Limits and alternatives
The assistant is in beta, and Generative Extend does not add spoken dialogue or music. DaVinci Resolve is a full editor with its own AI tools, Descript edits through a transcript, and CapCut is a template-driven editor with AI features.
