Summary
Overview
Resolve suits the Pro path more than the beginner path. It is a full professional suite with a surprisingly capable free version, and it’s a common destination when an AI tool hands you a rough cut to finish.
Blackmagic’s page describes a DaVinci AI Neural Engine, included in Resolve Studio, that powers facial recognition, object detection, smart reframing, speed warp retiming, super scale and auto colour and colour matching. DaVinci Resolve 21 adds AI tools such as IntelliSearch and CineFocus, and Fairlight has AI effects such as Voice Isolation and Music Remixer. The free version does not include the Neural Engine.
For marketers new to video, it is probably more than you need; for editors, it is a free place to build skills and a finishing step.
